Big Weekend 4 R Big Girl

Well, it is official......my baby is no longer a baby. She is a big girl like sissy and she couldn't be more proud! I finally broke down and have been working on getting all the new furniture for Sophia to transition her into a big girl bed. I know.......you are all thinking "well good grief, she is 3 after all". I kept her in her crib purely for one selfish reason only. So both Things would take naps at the same time and I could get a break and get things done around the house. This picture is the last night in her crib. As you can see.....she had no problem sleeping with her feet sticking out of the slats. She actually slept like this quite often when she was smaller.

When Emmie and I found this bedding from California Kids, I checked to see if it came in full bedding as well. It did, and I was thrilled. I did not want have to change the paint on her huge, high walls and rip up the carpet after just two years. And this is how she would cover herself up with all of her satin blankets. There are about 6 in there, I think, all satin. Luckily I found some bigger ones to buy online from BBKoala and they kept her really warm.
So here she is......doesn't her face say it all? She was so excited all day long. I still have some work to do. I need to put pictures in the picture frames, maybe get some shelves for over her bed and I would like to find something cute to put on top of the big book case. I was thinking about some colored parasols????? I'm not sure yet. I was also thinking about some big white letters like her Sophia ones. Perhaps saying Jiang Ao between the parasols? Decisions, decisions! lol
Sweet dreams, my Asian Princess..........we love you so!

I think it's a beautiful room. Every mom wants to get stuff done at nap time.

My daughter (Emma) and I completely approve of Sophia's new furnishings. What a special bedroom and I love the idea of parasols above the desk. One of my favorite websites for Chinese goods sells parasols reasonably cheap. Here's a link to their goodies: http://www.pearlriver.com/v2/FramesCat.asp?search=parasol

(copy and paste it to make it work)

Enjoy this great Michigan weather!

the room looks so great! I left all of my kids in cribs until age 3, and our (new) almost-2 year old is in a crib right this minute. I totally understand the "containment theory."

Very cool. Sophia looks very proud of herself in her new bed!

How about hanging Chinese lanterns from the ceiling (over the bookshelf)? I think they're so pretty.

Hey, do you and the kiddos want to meet at Koetsier's Greenhouse on Monday? We had so much fun when we visited there last Friday. Let me know!

Oh man, that is one beautiful room! I'd love to go all out like that! DH would rather eat and pay the mortgage though... ;)

She looks so proud in her big girl bed! On Sophia's 3rd birthday we made her crib into a day bed, and she's done well with it. I don't sleep quite as soundly though!
