I am slowly checking things off my to do list in preparing to go to China. My new
laptop came this week and so far so good. I had the Skype put on my desk top and I got the needed headphones to hear and communicate with the kids while we are in China. It is a 18.4 inch screen so I had to order quite a large bag for it to go in. However, all my paperwork and even some needed snacks will fit into it as well. It has a handle and I'll pull it on wheels......it's quite heavy. I'm sure we'll do a test run with the Sykpe before we leave. Hopefully, it will give Sophia and Daniel some sense of peace to see us with Andrew and I can remind them both that we will be home soon. Daniel is going through a separation anxiety phase right now. Cries when I leave and has woke up the past 4 nights crying for me. When I go into his room he tells me he misses me. ~sigh~ NOT something I needed to worry about right now, but we'll get through it.

I have decided what camera's and lenses I am taking and I got a new back pack style bag to carry it all in. At this point I will be taking my Olympus E 3 with two lenses ( the others I am leaving home) and I will give Emmie the Olympus E 510 with one lens. I will set that in Auto mode for her and just let her take as many pictures as she wants. There is no doubt that she will be behind the camera taking all the shots as I meet Andrew for the first time. I think I will also bring my smaller camera that has video on it as well.
Many of you have asked how Emmie is doing.
She is still struggling with the migraines on a daily basis. She was just put on a low dosage of To*pomax. She is to take it at night before bed. So far, there really hasn't been much of a change. I am going to give it a few more weeks and if there is no relief for her, we may look into other options. I also think I am going to push her to go to the Chiropractor. I think she needs her neck snapped around a few times. She is doing very well in school considering she feels pretty sick most of the time. She pulled a 4.0 her first trimester and I have no doubt she will get that same GPA again this Tri. I have not told the school yet that I will be pulling her out to go to China. I am waiting for our TA, but I do not think it will be a problem.
Passports:
I sent my passports out to get our "official" visa entry into China. That was exciting. I still can't believe we are going again. I got them back in 5 days. ;)
Andrews Room:
We are making progress on his room. The walls and trim are re-painted, his furniture is coming this week and the carpet will be installed next week. When it is put together, I will post some pictures. The Story Of You web site is also up, and I will post a link to it on my blog as it gets closer to our travel time.
Sweetest comment:
And finally, I got the sweetest comment from my previous travel mate Kristy on my last post. It brought tears to my eyes. It showed me that she remembers my old posts and can envision my children together.......here is what she said.......
"Steffie, as I have prayed for you, a picture comes to mind every time I pray so I want to share with you after reading this post. It has brought me many smiles! I have pictured Daniel and Andrew riding on trikes around the clickity-clack track of their playground as Princess Sophie is in her tower directing her knights from above! Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers! "
Priceless my sweet friend.....so very, very priceless.....to me! ;)
Blogs:
After announcing that we got Andrew's referral, I got so many comments....well....for my little ol' blog that is.....lol....that I would like to add many of you on my side bar. I hope that will be ok. I clicked on so many blogs and saw beautiful families. I would love to check in on many of you. I know my commenting has been less lately, but please know that I do check in on you. ;)

Steffie ~ We are just all so thrilled for you. And glad to see you almost ready. Nesting takes up tons of time. ;)
Sounds like you are almost ready to board that plane!! I can't wait to follow your journey.
Practicing with Skype is a great idea. We used it several times a day with my parents and extended family (including Emma's 4th grade classroom). It was incredible and we definitely felt more connected to everyone than email alone. I know it's going to be hard on Daniel, but it's only time limited.
Love ya!!
I, too, can't wait to follow your journey. I am sooo excited for all of you!
OH I so love your new blog look. I am so happy for you to have another little boy to add to your family. Pray for you and Emmie for safe travels.
sounds like you are getting there my friend. Love, love, love, that new laptop! I am almost afraid to get a laptop. I might take it to bed with me!
You are still always top of mind for me. I know all this preparing and organizing is stressful but good stressful. It still takes a lot out of you though.

Sorry I haven't commented in a while.....I've been stopping by and then get called away to do something the minute I start to comment.
So excited to follow your journey to Andrew!
getting ready to go to China...Oh there is nothing like it in. Can't wait for you to be there with your little man
OOPs, can you tell Jane climbed on my back as i was typing! Sorry!
At any rate, I can hardly wait to see you with another little one in your arms!
I have been a long time reader of your blog but never commented. I enjoy reading about your family and am excited about your upcoming trip to China. We adopted back in October 2006
My 16 year old niece has also been suffering from migraines and overall sickness for the past year. Her mother has just recently put her on a gluten free diet and to our surprise the migraines have disappeared. Is there any history of celiac disease with your family? If so migraines are a new symptom for celiac disease. It is worth checking into.

I hope that this new medication works for Emmie. I am so excited for you my friend. You know I'm going to be standing at the airport when you come home!
Looks like your ready to roll. Did you buy an Acer? We bought my dad and two of the boys Acer's and they love it! Can't wait for your journey. I bet the school is supportive. The High School was really supportive when I took Tyler with me. Tyler gave a big presentation in front of the school when we got home : ) While in China I got emails from tons of teachers and the principle. Emmie is going to have a blast. I'm sorry about the migraines : (
Can't wait to see the new room.
What a beautiful comment. I can picture Sophia looking down at the boys already! You will have to post a picture of all your bags packed and ready togo. I can't even imagine where I would start!

I am sorry to hear that Emmie is still struggling with migraines. I did for years! Sadly, I finally got relief when I had a hysterectomy. However, I then discovered adoption! I pray she will get some relief with an adjustment.
I am so excited to watch your journey to your Little Man!! Praying Daniel is able to work through his night time anxiety.
Blessings,
Carla
Steffie,
Sounds like you are ready to go!! I can't wait to follow your journey while you are in China! Don't forget to take lots of pictures (like you needed to reminded of that! lol!)
I am so sorry to hear that Emmie is still having headaches. They are so debilitating. In more recent years, I have started to have them, the ONLY thing that works for me is Tramadol when I can feel one coming on. I found this out be accident because I was taking Tramadol for an outpatient procedure that I had done, and realized that it helped stop my migraines before they started! It is not a narcotic so it would be okay for her to take during school. I couldn't take the Topamax because of the side effects. I hope she starts to have some relief.
Have a great week~
Dawn
Sounds like you have been very busy! I will email you soon with the details on the ladybug afghans. Can't wait to hear/read that you received your TA! Oh, happy days!!!!
You must be getting so excited!!
The nesting is in full gear. ;)
I can't wait to follow your journey to Andrew!
We continue to pray that Emmie will be free of her migraines, hugs to her..
Hi Steffie. I tried to locate your email address. I thought I saved it from last time we chatted but I can't find it. Anyway, drop me a line at shelly22005@yahoo.com if you are interested in the ladybug afghans. My mom just started taking orders for them again (she was got swamp at Christmas for orders and than took off some time once the holidays were over). If you can, let me know waht colors you might be interested in and how many you need/want...
What a beautiful thought of all the little ones together! Oh I can't wait!
We just got Skype and have been playing with it and talking to our team in Mexico...fun!
You know...most of my adult life I have had migraines. 3-5 day bad..go to bed...migraines. Since my heart issue, they put me on a beta blocker...NO MORE MIGRAINES! I looked it up and sometimes they are used for migraines. Interesting huh?
We know ALL about separation anxiety around here...I can't even take the trash out without Lottie losing it:( I will begin to pray for your precious little prince...poor little guy.
Hoping that you get that TA soon, looks like you are ready.
Wow! Looks like you are thoroughly prepared! I bet Emmie is REALLY EXCITED! You can never have too many photos of such an unbelievably momentous occasion.
I had been out of town and just getting caught up!! CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!! That is awesome news that you got your referrral!!!
He is adorable!!!
I am praying for Emmie, I have migrains too and they stink!!!
God bless!
Debbie
Oh I am so glad I stopped by today! Wow, you are really nesting here! Leave room for underwear:))
What a beautiful comment from your friend, it is priceless.
Hope your Emmie starts feeling better, migraines are not fun!
OOOOOh gotta check back!
Have a wonderful week,
Hugs,
Ivy
Yippee! It sounds like you are ready to go! I can't wait to follow your journey! Thanks for all of the updates. I love the song on your blog! I'm so happy for you! God is soooooo good!!! : )
You are an inspiration! How do you stay so organized with so many kids??? I'm impressed. You sound like you've got everything ready to go, how exciting!
I feel for Emmie as I've had migraines all my life...they are HORRIBLE! Hope the chiro can fix something...
Take care, Lucy
I do 200mg of Topamax daily for my migraines, and it's helped, but only to some degree... Thankfully they aren't no where near as bad. I also did acupuncture (spelling??) through a holistic doctor and it has helped even more. Best of luck to Emmie as I understand what she's going through and I Wouldn't wish that on anyone!
