Random Updates.....

Well I can't believe that I had to go to the Pediatricians yet again today. That is 4 times in the last 15 days. This time for Sophia. That nagging cough has been around for over a month now, and I felt it was getting croupier instead of better. Tried allergy medicine and wanted it to just run it's course.....but she is just not herself. She has also been waking up in the middle of the night 2-3 times for like 3 weeks now. All I have to do is go in there and tell her to lay down, that everything is ok, that it is time to go night-night and that I love her. She seems to be fine, but it is dragging on me! I need my sleep! I also feel like her appetite is down and unless we are doing a specific activity, she just sits quietly on the couch. That is NOT my Fia. So.......we got the Z-pac for her and I hope to see some improvement.
Next on my list is that Sophia's 3rd Birthday is in two weeks. I am so excited. Last summer I was still pretty over-whelmed with Daniel and we didn't do very much. This year we are having the Doctor's (Lily Lin) and the VanderHeide's (Hope, also from China) over for a day of hanging out at the lake and having fun. I've ordered all her presents and Brown and Fed Ex have started dropping packages off at my door on a daily basis! lol Now for the wrapping! I plan on sharing her life from China until now with you in a few days. Hopefully it will be fun....she is growing up so fast!
I experienced something this past Thursday that I have not ever done before. I was out doing errands and as I pulled into Target there was a man and his dog walking across the road. I didn't think much of it. He appeared very poor and unclean. When I left Target nearly an hour later he was standing in the median as people were entering and leaving holding a sign saying he was hungry, needed food, and was trying to get home. The light was red and I was about 6 cars back before I could turn out. My heart began to pound......I mean really pound......I got into my purse, pulled out a $2o bill, didn't know if I should give more......feeling like God was saying "give to this man".....and as the light turned green and people began to just go by him, I pulled over to the next lane.....there was no one behind me......put my window about 1/2 way down.....held the money out and said "I hope this helps you" and he said "Thank you, have a beautiful day"....and I kept going. Tears began to flow down my cheeks as mixed emotions ran through me. It was a "God moment" as I call those.....and I was grateful to have it.......scolding myself for daring to whine about anything in my life!
And lastly.......on July 31st, the hubby and I will have been married for 15 years. I am truly blessed to have him as my husband and the Father of my children. There isn't anything he wouldn't do for me and I love him more and more each passing year.

Happy pre-anniversary!!!! Wonderful!
When we were in San Francisco, we saw so many people who had so little and we felt so badly. Never have we felt more grateful for our jobs, our families and our friends. You did a good thing, sweet girl.

Wellness to your dariling Sophia. I'm sure she will bounce back very soon. I too roll down my windows for the homeless, though I don't give them cash, I'm a tainted nurse who sees the drugs/alcohol abuse and lies many of these people spin. I hand out the snacks in my van, like granola bars and dried friut. They still seem thankful to get it and I still get a little high from helping a bit.

Steffie B. said...

I thought about that too, Elizabeth, but then I realized that it wasn't so important to me "what" he did with the money, but that I did what I felt called to do. ;)

Wow, July holds alot of celebration for you. Hope everyone is drug free by then! LOL. Poor Fia! Poor Mom!

As for the handout, it would impossible to give everyone here some money, as the 'needy' has increased with big city problems, and that does not settle my heart any, as I am forced to drive by them all. Worst on a cold -30C night when they are huddled up on the street in their sleeping bag, when I can't even walk from a store to the car without complaining about frostbite. Just reminders to us that we are in a good place. You are an angel to many Steffi. The Gods are happy.

Celebrate heartily!

I was accross the street coming out from work. I could only see him from behind holding a sign and couldn't see what it said.
I'm glad that you gave him some money.

I found some great Christmas art clips for Verna and got those over to her, so I'm excited to see what she comes up with!
I have to color my hair (yes, I do my own), make zucchini bread and I want to get out on the lake too for a boatride and maybe a swim. We're running the air non-stop, it's so hot and muggy.
I can't believe you saw that same guy outside of Target.

You are a very good woman to have helped that man. I believe that we are sometimes put in situations like this for a reason.

Happy upcoming 15 years to you and David. You guys are awesome!

Hey there!!
I'm up! It's not pretty, but I'm up. I have to get it together, we're working in the chuch nursery today.

redmaryjanes said...

Oh honey,
They are still sick? I'm sorry.

insanemommy said...

Honey, it's not only your "beauty" that make you so special, it's your heart. You have a way of making everything seem well, just about perfect. We have a terrible problem here in DC. Makes me cry every time we go into the city. It's pathetic.

G-d is smiling at you today my love.

Congratulations on 15 years of marriage (we celebrated 11 years July 20th, well we didn't actual CELEBRATE but we hugged and stuff--hehe). Hope the tribe gets healthy and snot free for "Fia's" big day.
You really touched me with your "God moment" story......we all need to be reminded of those less fortunate, but at times it all seems so overwhelming.
Sleep peacefully tonight with your angels.
