Joys of Potty Training

Ok.........so I have gone out and bought my Fisher Price Potty. You know the one......it plays music once you have accomplished the great and mighty task in it. Set it by the toilet, let Sophia check it out, let her sit on it (with clothes on) just to get the hang of it and so on. She also starts watching that famous Once Upon a Potty Video, which she truly finds hilarious! That's how our whole wee-wee, poo-poo statement started. So......the potty training begins. She has absolutely no interest in sitting on the Fisher Price potty. It is much better to just squat down and push the button to hear the music play. (Sigh) I buy the potty ring to stick on the toilet along with the step stool to get up on the potty. Wants nothing to do with it! (Sigh) Nope........Sophia just wants to sit right on the potty. Now mind you there is the whole keeping your balance thing when they are this little. No problem for Sophia. She sits on it with her legs apart to both sides, feet just a bouncing up and down and grabs on to the front of the toilet and then proceeds to look down so she can witness the whole entire process that is going on! She is always quite pleased with herself until the look comes. You know the one I am talking about. The one that looks like your child is from a different planet! And let me tell you, when this task is done, there is just a hoopin' and a hollerin' coming from the bathroom. I do find it interesting that she does not feel the need for a reward. She is totally happy knowing that I am happy and proud! Let's just hope she never loses that grip on the front of the toilet. Because if she does......she'll be in for the surprise of her life. I think I'll keep that toilet ring handy.....just in case!
