To The Oral Surgeon I Go

Well, one could say that today is my lucky day or a day that will be h *ll! I get the joyful experience of not only getting a molar implant put in with a screw in my jaw..... for crying out loud...... but I also get to have all 4 wisdom teeth extracted. And "I" get the honor of being the first patient of the day. 8:00 AM! I should probably admit to you that the dentist is my worst nightmare and the oral surgeon nearly pushes me to hyper ventilating. I never did do my post on when the dentist had to pull the broken tooth out. It was capped and when that came off she told me it was broke in two pieces and would need to come out. I said ok.....she did it that day. And it wasn't easy. Long story short.....I always have that relaxing gas....well....I got too much of it I guess....and about 15 minutes into trying to remove that tooth.....Steffie whips off the mask and announces in her raspy voice....(due to the gas.....and they told me this, I don't remember)......I AM GOING TO BE SICK.....and sure enough they haul me out of the chair because I am so weak and high to get out of it myself, and I begin barfing in this little tiny dental sink. LOVELY. I kept my eyes closed out of total fear......ok....I peeked once to see blood and my morning oatmeal........OH.MY.ACHIN'.WORD...........Mind you the office is that "open concept" kind of office. Can you imagine being in the next room and hearing someone puking. OH.MY.WORD. Oh.....and I didn't just barf a little.....oh no.....I puked until I was doing nothing but dry heaving.......David had to be called to come get me, it was horrible. And now.....this is how I get to spend my Wednesday. I'll admit.......I am nearly sick about it.....the thought about gags me. Oh ...and did I mention that Andrew's bedroom furniture is being delivered TODAY along with a new dining room table and 12 chairs for our new rec-room? SUPER!!!
So being the good sport that I am......I just want to say.....Have a terrific weekend friends, eat anything you'd like, chips, apples, popcorn, steak.... anything hard, crunchy and chewy, drink some wine and have some laughs. I'll be back on Monday.....feeling like a new woman with a screw in my jaw and minus 4 teeth. LOVELY!!!!! Hmmmm.... Does this mean I'm getting screwed today? Bahahahahaha! Sorry.....it's the stress of it all! *wink*

I am right there with ya girl...I do NOT like going to the dentist at all! (and I so try to be brave when I take Francesca but I think she can "feel" that I too so don't want to be there)! Anyway, just think...that experience is all over and now you can enjoy your weekend! Have a great one and we'll see you on Monday!

I'll be thinking good thoughts and praying that this episode isn't nearly as difficult. Wisdom teeth extraction isn't fun though. Yikes. I can't wait to see the new furniture. Be sure to take pictures!!

My husband just had that screw in the jaw thing done this past fall. I know you already guessed that it isn't fun, but I did think you'd want to hear that the husband LOVES it now that it's in and all over with. He hasn't had any problems since. Hugs to you!

Steffie....you still have your great sense of humor in spite of your dire circumstances! Thanks for some laughs today and know this too shall pass! I had skin grafting done on some of my gums last year as I brush my teeth too hard and made them recess. Recovery was not as bad as thought it would be. Hope the same goes for you and I will pray you have smooth sailing! I could only eat soft/cold things for a week. Was not allowed to eat or drink any thing warm. PS. I was so touched by your last post/recognition and thankful God placed the picture of your children in my heart so I could share it with you. I am glad it spoke to your heart as well. What a happy Spring you guys will have outside by the lake with your newest addition. And all this dentist yuk behind you as well! Keep those thoughts rolling to get you through! I just ate some chips for you my friend....barbecue pringles to go with my turkey/cheese on whole wheat. Hoping you can have a huge chocolate milkshake to make up for things!

I am right there with you on that one sista..I have always said if I ever have a heart attack it will be in the dental chair. I so wish I was not this way but I can not help it. I have to hold a tissue in my hands and remind myself to breath as I realize I am holding my breathe..I just hate it:(
Thinking good thoughts for you today..HUGS!!!

Steffie,
Hang in there. Just make sure to follow the directions from the dentist. Don't suck anything threw a straw. It will make your healing slower and cause more pain. Just rest, take it easy and relaxs. Ya Ya.
Good luck.

Oh Stef.....right about now you and your Percocet should be cuddly tiptoeing through the tulips...I hope!

I have been there, honey. My dentist built a mansion on all I spent with him over the years. I am no stranger to dental work and endodontists and wisdom teeth removal and DRY SOCKET. I am saying a little prayer for you that you don't get dry socket. Oh, my eyes are watering with the memory of the dry socket.

Rest and let sugar plums dance in your head for a few days.

Young Creations said...

Hey Steffie,
Just checking in on your chipmunk cheeks. Make sure to use a lot of ice. It really helps. Remember do not suck. Google "dry sockets". You don't want to get that it is really painful. I will check in tomorrow. Sleep tight.
